AXEL LEGRAND
I was born in France and studied Mechanical Engineering before spending more than eight years in leadership roles within the aviation industry. While I always appreciated the technical side of machines, my true passion has always been climbing.
After years of dedicating every free moment to the mountains and the rock, I decided to completely change my life and follow my heart — becoming a full-time climbing instructor and guide.
Today, I work independently as a climbing guide in Kalymnos, Leonidio, and France, as well as in cooperation with Simon Montmory, offering climbing courses, private coaching, and outdoor climbing instruction for all levels. Whether guiding beginners on the limestone cliffs of Kalymnos, refining skills in Leonidio, or leading classic routes in France, I provide safe, personalized climbing experiences.
My goal as a climbing instructor is to share my passion for the sport and teach a safe, respectful, and mindful approach to outdoor climbing. I aim to help each climber build the confidence and skills to climb independently while improving technique and movement in a supportive environment.

KLARA STEIN & AXEL LEGRAND
We’re Axel Legrand, professional climbing guide, and Klara Stein, climbing photographer and videographer, working together to create unique Kalymnos climbing experiences. We first met while climbing in Ceüse, and since then have built a strong partnership, living and working together to bring climbing, coaching, and storytelling to life.
As a team, we offer personalized climbing courses and coaching for individuals, groups, retreats, and brands — from sport climbing to multipitch adventures. While Axel guides and teaches, ensuring safety and skill development, I capture every moment with professional climbing photography and cinematic videography, helping climbers and organizations create lasting memories and high-quality content.
With over 8 years of experience on Kalymnos, I’ve helped establish climbing photography on the island and work internationally with climbers, retreats, and brands. Our combined expertise allows us to deliver not only world-class climbing instruction but also beautiful, authentic images and videos that tell your climbing story.
Whether it’s a private coaching session, a group retreat, or a brand campaign, we make sure every adventure is safe, inspiring, and unforgettable .
During the peak season you will find us on Kalymnos, - off season we live and travel in our van depending where climbing and work takes us.
